River Plate Adventures, The Amazon

“The reason Fishabout has chosen to use River Plate Anglers is that they offer the most options of any of the peacock bass operators in the Amazon. Jungle fishing is very sensitive to water level. Different drainages are affected differently by rain and draught. River Plate has many camps situated in strategic locations on different tributaries to the Rio Negro and Amazon Rivers allowing them to take advantage of the most optimum conditions available on any particular week. In addition, the camps can be easily moved between trips to the best section of water available on that drainage.”

“The camps are made up of lightweight floating barges, each tent style bungalow sits on it’s own floating platform with a camp toilet, shower and comfortable sleeping quarters. There is a main dining tent where meals are served. The bungalows get daily room service and laundry, the camps run on a 12 volt system that is very efficient. Fishing is done from aluminum flat bottomed boats with outboard motors. Each is equipped with an electric motor for positioning and comfortable seats. The guides are very familiar with fly fishing. Anglers fish 2 per boat. These camps are mostly located at the headwaters of these rivers which offer the most remote access to this wild fishery…” Howard McKinney
