Uncle Bill was my great uncle. An inspiration until the very end. As you probably know already, the man had the patience of a saint. As kids, he would take us out (about 4 or 5 at a time!) on some great fishing adventure. And those fishing days would last ALL DAY from before sun up until sundown. I don't know how many times he must have heard "Lets take a rest Uncle/Grandpa Bill." And we always would, usually with a ham sandwich. One of my favorite memories is the day he took us fishing on the San Lorenzo river. I was about ten years old. I can still picture the setting sun on that beautiful clear day. He had us all geared up in our waders. All of a sudden I felt cold water rushing into my waders. "Uncle Bill" I yelled, "There's a hole in my waders!" He looked over and laughed, "There sure is, one great big one at the top!" He thought that was so funny. There are other memories, as well. He used to take us out onto the bay. On this day we weren't catching the good stuff, but he spent half a day with us under some structure in the middle of the bay peeling muscles of the wood columns and catching a hell of a lot of perch. Thanks everyone for being such great fishing buddies for him. It's great to know how well respected and loved he was. You're always in our hearts Uncle Bill! We love you.
