Hi Jerry,

Thanks. Hope the fly works. Palmering the Craft Fur helps but it will still thin over time. But almost all flies do. Craft fur has advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that it's pretty durable and doesn't resist the water too much which allows for free movement. The disadvantage is that it can really muck up on the hook but you get pretty good at defouling it after a fish mauls it. The bucktail topping helps to prevent too much fouling. Rabbit strip and marabou thin over time too and they hold air which can cause the fly to ride hook down until the material is fully saturated. Plus they wear out pretty fast. But they sure look FANTASTIC in the water! Bucktail is too stiff for free movement and Puglisi fiber is also too stiff but the Enrico Puglisi (EP) fiber is incredibly durable. So once again, everything is a tradeoff!

BTW, heard from a little bird that Sufix was less than great for a boat mate of yours. Tell your friend DO NOT USE less than 30lb Sufix on stripers......BAD, very bad! On light mono, big fish behave like hot potatoes if you know what I mean.

Dave
