|Thanks for the alert.|
I'll send my opposition, as I want to retain the right to use those rivers.
I'm on the Board of Directors of Common Waters of Oregon, www.oregonriverrights.com, a not-for-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to protect and preserve the public's rights to use Oregon's rivers. So, I understand the critical importance of this issue. We successfully defeated a state legislative effort 2 years ago that would have privatized many of Oregon's public rivers.
The critical urgency in this issue is that once these rights are taken away, we won't get them back. Once a river gets privatized, the political reality is that they won't be available to the public ever again, unless a federal court determines they meet the federal definition of navigability.
So, for those of you who fish these waters, silence isn't an option. If you don't let your voice be heard, you will indeed lose your rights to use these waters----forever.
