Randall, Here is a solution to your running with line problem. Replace your spikes with LONG quarter inch zip tie "spikes" (or similar). These are flexible enough that they won't grab the line but they will slow it down a little on the shoot and can aid in turning over the fly. More important, you'll be able to chase critters up and down the beach, long spikes will hold your line in place. Dave
