I have only been using stripping baskets for a year--caveat--and I like those plastic electrician's ties. I find them in the hardware store's electrical section. However, I'm not sure how to attach these to your basket. For my stripping baskets, I melt holes with a knife in a plastic dishpan and stick the ties through them. Perhaps you could perforate the bottom material of your basket in a similar way?

I think the teeth or fingers in your stripping basket will help manage the line and avoid tangles.

But its also important to remove line twist often.

Another element in avoiding tangles is to rotate or move your rod during the shoot, which somehow solves most tangles. Half-tangles won't cause a pile-up and a blown cast when they are traveling through the stripping guide.

I think Glide and Russ Peak Line Dressing are good lubricants, although if you are fishing in the surf, nothing will beat keeping your line wet.

Be careful of waves when working out those tangles!
