Once again Danny Blantoni has nailed it for ya' I have been fishing baitfish flies here the last two weeks. We have brought 15 Tarpon to the boat and send another 25 into the air down here this year. Almost all are imitating threadfin herring or small mullet. We also have a ton of white bait (pilchards) here in southwest florida so they could be thinking these flies are those little buggers. On the beach it is light colors and great casting, then feed the fish, in the backcountry it is get in there and keep it moving slowly. Without a dought the early mornings have been a great time for a floating line with flies that make a wake, and later in the day we are switching over to the intermediate or intermediate tip lines. One fly that has done really well for us looks a whole lot like the Blanton Whistler....
