|Everything new in the game of fly fishing from the Sierra to the sea will be on display when the 2019 Pleasanton Fly Fishing Show kicks off the season, Feb. 22-24 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, 4501 Pleasanton Ave., Pleasanton.|
The show’s newest edition features a tribute ceremony to the late fly-fishing icon Lefty Kreh on Sat., plus more than 15 demonstrations or audio/visual presentations each hour together with wall-to-wall displays of the newest fly rods, reels, lines, boots, waders, clothing and flies during the three-day mid-winter run.
In addition to tackle, lodges and exotic destinations, show visitors can view continuous fly-tying demonstrations, how-to-do-it seminars and presentations ranging from the Truckee River to Prince of Wales Island to Lees Ferry, Arizona.
Seminars include Advanced Nymph Fishing with Jason Randall, Eastern Sierra on the Fly with Joe Contaldi and Fishing the Non-Hatch Times with Gary Borger.
Casting demonstrations are scheduled by Borger, Brian O’Keefe, Jeff Currier and Wendy Gunn among others.
Featured fly tiers include Ed Engle, Dan Blanton, Borger, Phil Rowley and Nate Brumley.
The Northern California premiere of the 2019 Fly Fishing Film Festival is Fri. at 6:30. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
Scouts in uniform can earn credits toward a fly fishing merit badge.
Fly Fishing Show® admission is $15 for one day, $25 for two days and $35 for three days. Children under age 5 are free as are Boy and Girl Scouts under 16 in uniform. Children under 12 are $5. Active military with an ID is $10.
