Thanks for the upbeat Florida report about the Indian River estuary. This year along the southern 75% of that estuary's length there have been even bigger blooms of toxic red algae and green algae and extensive fish kills. The algae blooms make it difficult to breathe without coughing. These blooms have been increasing in area and severity for the past 16 years. Their frequency, the fish kills, and the stink are depressing real estate values and tourism along the lagoon, but politicians are slowly becoming aware there is a problem that needs attention.
