Dan Blanton wrote his first article on the Delta Stripers on flies and Mark Pinto seems like he was one of the first guides we went with and I think 30 years ago might be a better guess.

Before that my dear Mike Fong wrote about canoeing in the Delta going back into sneaky little places for Large Mouth Bass and Panfish.

About 40+ years ago I worked at a bait shop in West Sacramento. A guy came in and talked about anchoring in Frank's Tract in the winter time for Stripers. He used some kind of bait, cast it out and then coiled the line in the bottom of his boat. He said he waited till about 30 feet of line would get pulled out and he would set the hook.
