Shiz nailed it. Do not strip off more line than you can cast. If you have un-cast coils left on the deck or in the bucket your line will develop twists from roll casting or from rotating your wrist while casting. Casting the complete length of stripped line, as Shiz noted, will un-twist your line and will prevent further twisting. If you have a couple of feet of shooting line remaining, just mend it out of the rod tip right away and let it sink with the rest of it. This is the best solution old friend.
