I took my son and granddaughters fishing and boating Monday past on the O`Neill Forebay. It was the first time the girls had ever been in a boat and the first time they'ed fished for stripers or handled fly gear. It was a team effort - Rich and I would cast, hook-up and the girls, Rylee age 8 and sis Baylee age 6 would fight them to hand. They landed 18 fish ranging in size from 12 to 18 inches and they handled the fly rod, hand-stripping the fish in perfectly - no high-sticking, or gunneling the rod. They didn't drop a single fish. They had a blast and so did dad and I. We had a great lunch on the water and I let both girls steer the boat to a couple of new spots - they loved it. It was a gorgeous day, not too hot but we bagged it right after lunch - the girls are going over to the Santa Cruz board walk this evening with their Auntie and cousins. They will sleep well tonight!!
