Our daughter works at one of the hospitals in Redding and lives on the east side of 5 and south of 44. When she got off work yesterday morning the smoke was pretty thick. The hospital was on generator power and a triage unit was setup outside. She came home just to get away from the smoke. She heads back up that way on Tuesday. We were up there a couple of weeks ago and drove around Whiskeytown Lake on her day off. That area has been consumed by the fire. She can't reach a couple of co-workers to even offer her place to stay. Some have lost their homes. We noticed that her place had no real fire break as it backed up to Bechelli Creek. Even then it was too dry to clear the dry grass without starting a fire from a spark. It is going to be a long hot summer.
