Well I use a silicone High Vacuum Grease, when I feel the need to renew the grease on my cork drag reels.

It is normally used to seal high vacuum joints, and often must work at liquid nitrogen temperatures.

And yes I used the same stuff on the drag washers as on the bearings. Of course my Charlton reels are all sealed.

It would likely not be a good thing to use on a heavily loaded bearing for lubrication, where the load may be so high as to generate a lot of heat.

Hasn't ever happened on any reel I have. (that is bearing heat, not drag heat.)
