Reel Grease Solution

I bought a Colton reel a few years back and recently decided to set it up as a two hander spey reel. While on a trip to the Olympic Peninsula this past winter, the lubricant in the reel got super thick and gummy when cold. It got to where I could barely wind the line in. It is definitely a temperature issue because the reel returned to working properly back in the hotel room.

Colton was contacted about the issue with the hope that they would suggest a better or updated grease. Instead, I was told to "give it a light puff of CRC or WD40". It seems to me that thinning a grease will change but not eliminate it's cold temp thickening quality. Colton's response was to try it before questioning and things started to go down hill from there. I could "try it", but with one bad experience behind me, I'm pretty reluctant to risk another bad experience on another trip.

By comparison, the Tibor that I also brought to the OP performed well in same weather. I could just replace the grease in the Colton with Tibor grease and be done with it. On the other hand, this is a great opportunity to find out what reel grease others are using for cold temperatures.
