Not a great or natural stance Phil, especially when tossing heavy lines and big flies. Keeping the upper body from over-rotating is the key and you can do it with one foot forward. I cast right-handed and place my left foot forward. If I want my line/leader to land straight with no curves, I do what others have already suggested. I recognize from watching my loop(s) what I'm don't wrong or right and correct accordingly. I don't worry too much about hooked leaders if tossing a heavy sinking line an big fly so long as I don't form a casting knot in the leader.
