Adam,

I think I would start by eliminating the "wrist snap" at the end of your casting stroke. You should try to accelerate through the forward cast with a simple, abrupt stop at the end. Think smooth...

Also, it's not hard to video your casting stroke these days. Set your phone up and video your cast. Lot can be learned by seeing yourself on film... in your mind, you might be doing everything correctly, but may be able to pick up a few "I didn't realize I was doing that" mistakes by watching your casting stroke on video.

If this does not help, a session or two with a casting instructor may iron out your problem as well. After 25 years, I still enjoy talking/casting with better fly casters than myself and can always pick up a tip or reminder that improves my casting.
