Carl--Aside from your total misread of what I wrote, I won't dignify your insults with the response they deserve, except to note that when I cast a fly rod, I try to keep my line off the water as much as possible until the fly settles on it. Maybe you need water to determine how far or accurately you can cast, or how a rod feels in your hand, or what its swing weight is, or perhaps none of those are considerations for you. I can usually tell how far or accurately a particular rod will cast whether I am casting it from a flats boat, in a parking lot or in the outfield in Marlins Park, and I'd wager 90% of the people reading this can as well.
