The Anderson's team always has a winner...the gold medalist but within 5% of the winner's performance score are usually 5 other rods and within 10% of the winner's performance score there are about 10. These percentages IMHO would account for what Joel notes as Anderson's personal, subjective taste. Thus if there are any absolutes in fly rod selection, as it has been stated numerous times here and elsewhere try it to see if it suits your personal taste. My personal taste is salt flats, wind casting, and under 70 feet, and for me, my skill level, and taste just about any modern rod will work for me if I vary the line weight and head length. Anderson's 2014 8wt Shootout placed the Sage Method 3rd(within 5% of 1) but it was a 7wt with 8 wt line...
