Got out for the first time in a very long time with my pal David Mckenzie yesterday for San Luis stripers. It was just too hot to go hiking all over the valley carp spots so we opted for the lake since it has been fishing so well. We had a great time and caught plenty of fish but most were small. In fact we both marveled at how many yearling stripers there were busting tiny, 1/4-inch long shad minnows. Hundreds of them working banks in many areas of the lake.

There were a few nicer fish mixed in with the stripers-in-diapers but not as many as there was on Friday past. Water temps were much higher, into the mid-70s. It was also the full moon which is never very good on this lake. It was a fun day though and we got our share. Other pals were working the lake too and they scored about the same. We bagged it around 1:30 after circumventing the lake looking for better fish.
