Montana and Idaho

Had a really fine trip this year to Montana and Idaho. Every year for the past 30 I have been visiting this fine land. Hit all the well known places - The Madison, Quake Lake, Cliff Lake, etc. which fished great , but the "kicker" was Henry's Fork. I used to fish it in the mid 80's and being a newbie to the sport back then, I did not have a clue what I was doing. But I loved the beauty of The Fork and its mystique. During the problem years I would not fish it. It was much more productive to fish other places like the Madison, the Gallatin, Slough Creek, Hebgen Lake, etc. Finally, this year my buddy Scott and I decided to give The Fork a go and "wow" we finally got it right and landed some beautiful fish. Ants, flavs, PMD's, spinners, caddis. Down and across and quartering up and if your drift was spot on and no leader ahead of the fly you could get lucky.
I did kill my first deer as well. Got it with a Toyota Yaris. Crushed the left front of the car but luckily no swerving off into the snow ditch. Someone was watching over us that night. Moral to the story - buy the insurance and make sure everyone is listed a driver and remember your credit card company may also have you insured as well. Tight line, Jim
