|Just came acroos this latest "official" TSA documeent on where to put your sporting equipment: http://blog.tsa.gov/2014/06/tsa-travel-tips-traveling-with-sporting.html. Carry-on rods-Yes, large saltwater hooks-No. TAckle is OK, but what is tackle: lines and reels? TSA quote from here (http://blog.tsa.gov/2014/05/tsa-travel-tips-travel-tips-for.html): "Fishing Rods/Poles/Tackle - TSA allows fishing poles, but if you’re taking them as a carry-on, you might want to give your airline a call and see if the pole exceeds their carry-on limits. Tackle is ok as a carry-on, but be sure that you don’t have any knives or large deep sea fishing hooks. Also, tools can’t be larger than seven inches."|
Unfortunately, knowing these rules and regs doesn't stop the TSA folk with a chip on his/her shoulder from screwing you...
