If Hatcheries are supposed to replace the amount of fish we had historically, lost because of the placement of dams blocking access to invaluable and unreplaceable spawning grounds, why dont we have hatchery runs equalling the original wild runs? Because the hatchery can not replace the lost spawning areas and the dynamics of runs of salmon and steelhead arriving multiple times during the year, saving genetic diversity of the species.

The old school of thought has lead it to this place.

The good old days were the bad old days.
