Have you ever given any thought to the mechanical problem (kinematic) of actually making two (or more) pawls, sufficiently accurate, so that the two pawls actually share the load, more or less equally ? Otherwise, you essentially have a single pawl, with a "ghost" pawl, not actually doing anything until the first pawl fails. Then you are back to a single pawl again, with no tertiary backup.

Doing one pawl right is easier, than doing two, only half right so that only one is really working.
