I recently had a similar experience. I sent two well used 12 wt's back to GLoomis. The cork was virtually gone on them due to my sticking the hook point of my fly under the handle waiting for fish on a run. Suffice it to say the rods looked awful.

I wrote a short note to them explaining how the rod's had broken and included my telephone number should they have any questions.

In very short order two brand new rods showed up. There was a small charge for freight.

Thanks to GLoomis I will crank up this tarpon season with two new rods.
