Bill Nash explained that "dumping" occurs once the loop completely unfurls and there is no line energy left to propel the leader and fly forward, but the line still contains energy so the butt end of the line continues forward, catching up with the fly until it hits the water. Bill suggested slowing the loop progression or increase the line length so it will take longer for the loop to unfurl. Also minimizing running line drag and using a heavier fly (if possible)to use its stored energy to carry it after the line unfurls may help..
