I join the chorus of CB and MR. You are paying the professional for his experience both historical and current; therefore, I'd hand him your rods ready without any flies attached let him do the final. Thus your rods have his knots and flies. One doesn't show up for your open heart and hand Mr. Jones, MD your set of hand made clamps and scalpels...use these...My procedure for the three Keys guides that I use when Tarpon is the first choice of the day is: hand two rods both 11wt one with mono 4 feet 40 to 4 feet 30 for surface work then other 4 feet Seaguar 50 to 4 feet Seaguar 40...the end and the fly choice is theirs...I show them what I have but the choice is up to them. They usually ask how do you want to fish and I'll say hook jump run up pop off...then they will usually attach another 3 feet or so of 30-40 Seaguar and their choice of fly.
