Gary, I don't understand, maybe it's a language thing, but first you praised TFO and Shilton (rightly so) but now you seem to be talking down the gear. I hope I'm wrong!

I know TFO has several world records and the Shilton SL7 has stopped a 128lb yellowfin at Christmas Island:

And I think you may be short-changing the fishing opportunities in your country. From my research, in addition to the species you mentioned (there are several varieties of sought after yellowfish all technically challenging in their own right), there are many fly opportunities including big yellowfin tuna, yellowtail kingfish, GTs, elf, pompano, mackerel, stumpnose, blacktail, zebra, giant herring, mullet, a variety of sharks, marlin, sharptooth catfish, abundant carp and bass both large mouth and small mouth, blue gill, several species of tilapia, mogel, trout, tiger fish etc. And South Africa is great jumping off place for flyfishing travel destinations like Seychelles, Mozambique, and the West Coast with world class fishing.

Little wonder so many saffas are such keen fly fishos and love their value for money TFOs and home grown Shiltons.

I was just interested in which models you like to fish - even for the limited species you mentioned.
