|It's not about respect for carp - it's about respect for the Australian environment where they have become a highly invasive feral animal damaging ancient ecosystems. They can and should be respected where they are in harmony with their environment. Here they are considered to be a major pest, wrecking water quality and crowding out habitat which all contributes to the decline of already struggling native fish species. Their feeding habit which involves roiling (bottom sucking) does not fit in with the fragile soils of the river banks here. |
