|PP: If I were you and I obtained this used rod for such a low price that one might suspect that it was purloined and I had Abels which I do and I really wanted to use it this is what I would do: #1 I'd split the factory seat with a Dremel Moto Tool in half... careful not to nick the blank under the seat and replace it with a suitable salt Bellinger or REC seat with Butt OR THE EASY #2 take your Abel apply a release agent such as mold release if you have it available or Vaseline to the foot particular attention to the forward part that's going into the forward hood mix up some epoxy about size of pea place in the forward hood with a tooth pick then mount the reel with the greased foot wait until set then wiggle the reel off and that's it...is it the length of the Abel foot, its width or its taper that's the issue(s)?? BTW Peter are you related to James(Jim) Prideaux made famous and notorious by le Carre^ in "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" |
