Sorry for the lax response time. Lanier can fish nicely thru all of Jan. However...if the weather gets super cold & the water temps go below 46 degrees, the stripers will get lethargic and not eat good. We are fishing sinking lines that time of year and keep an intermediate in the boat on days when they can get up and on the surface. Late November is MONEY on Lanier. LOVE that time as it is very visual with a good surface bight of stripers averaging 8-10lbs and shots at teenagers a probability. I also love March/April as it is our pre-spawn (BIG FISH) time of the year and just an overall good striper and spotted bass bite. Not sure that time frame is in your plans but good to know too. Hope that answers your questions. If you do come down and DIY the lake then make sure you tie up some "somethin' else flies". It is basically a small polar fiber Clouser with some mojo added in. Both those times of the year will have small bait as the primary forage.
