Look closely at the Lowrance Elite series. With the Elite 7 you can split the screen three ways. You can also overlay the sonar (which is best for reading fish) and the down image (which is better for structure id) to give you the best of both worlds on one screen. There are several map options. The 83/200 transducer will read to 1,000 feet in fresh water, a little less in salt. You will spend $600-$850 depending on options.

I operated a Sheriff boat for 18 years and operated side scan sonar for underwater search and recovery in Ca. for many years. I would love to have the 10 inch screen, radar, serius radio for dopler, side imaging and all the other bells and whistles if I had $5,000 to burn. But for the buck I will soon be ordering the Elite 7.

I have seen transducers bleed each other, especially if they are the same KH. Speeding up the scroll rate of one of the units seems to help this problem. My .02
