Ron,

Almost no one cuts T-11 or T-14 to match a rod by grains. We just go by castable feet. For example, an 8- or 9-weight rod will easily handle 28 feet of T-14 and 30 feet of T-11. A 10-weight rod will easily handle 30 feet of T-14. Of course this can be personal too. I suggest you start with 30 feet and cut back a foot at a time until it feels right to you.

If you go by grain weight your head will be way to short and dumpy.
