So there was somewhere around 75 years of striper / Delta knowledge on your boat those days? I can imagine the conversation between two retired guides fishing together going like this:

Guide #1: With this tide and the overcast I think we'll look to the west.
Guide #2: No, we should look to the north for clearer water. Clearer water is better.
Guide #1: Not in my experience but okay. If we're going north I recommend 18 feet of T28 lead core on a 11 weight. Use a 9 foot leader ending in 15 lb fluoro tippet.
Guide #2: Well, I guess you could use that but I think 22 feet of T18 lead core on a 10 wt would be better. And I'd use a 12 foot leader with a 20lb tippet.
Guide #1: Okay, but I've been out here for 30 plus years and there has been few times when you need that long of a leader. Anyway, yellow over white will be the color of the day today. Guarentee it.
Guide #2: Are you high? If it ain't chartreuse it ain't no use.
Guide #1: You're out of your mind amigo. If you aren't going to listen to my advice why'd you hire me.
Guide #2: I didn't hire you, you hired me.
Guide #1: Did not.
Guide #2: Did so.
Guide #1: Want a beer?
Guide #2: Now you're talking. Did I ever tell you about the this client I had who absolutely positively had to fish with a Snoopy Baitcaster?
