Man that sounds like fun, both fishing and hanging out! It's just such a fun place to fish, where you don't know what's lurking in any given pocket in the mangroves. Once, back in 1996, my wife and I left out of Chokoloskee and went down to the Shark River to spend a few nights on a live-aboard. During those three days, Jacqueline caught a 130 lb tarpon on a plug (I caught none!!); we had a cottonmouth climb into the skiff by scaling the prop: an alligator chomped down on the guide's pushpole; I caught a gar on a popper; Jacqueline caught a big snook; we had manatees and porpoises circling the boat while big tarpon rolled in the distance -- land of giants!; and I got yelled at for missing a giant redfish in the mangroves. Haven't been in a long time, but man does your note above make me want to go back!
