I spent close to a year down in Argentina and did all DIY fly fishing. Ushuaia was by far my most memorable experience.

As Louie the Fish says, there are enormous brookies down there and my regret is that I never got photos from that part of my trip!

In Ushuaia, I dropped by the fishing and hunting club where one of the guys gave me advice that involved a bus ride to what looked like nowheres-ville when I first stepped off. The bleached bones weren't human afterall. They were sheep. And, after a 45min hike and a dusting of snow, I practically fell into the meandering steam hidden by tall pasture.... the head waters of Rio Ewans starts off as a pond and then a meandering trench. I spent a week camping on the stream fishing for beautiful brookies and sea-run browns. One other fisherman showed up on my last day there and gave me a ride back to town.

I would recommend checking in with the club de caza y pesca in town. They will likely lead you to some good fishing.
