Yeah, the big bulls (females grow the biggest actually but they call them bulls) come in during the colder fall and winter and mostly depart by March. But there are always a few around. I hooked a big one fishing with Barrett Brown in June one time. I know you asked about tarpon and they do get some around N.O. it isn't consistent enough to specifically target them. Plus they're usually out in deeper water and often seen around the oil rigs. I think you'd enjoy fishing with Rocky. You can catch reds, black drum, sheepshead, flounder, jacks...mostly reds. Floating line, mostly sight fishing but in slightly off color or murky water but you can see the tail and sometimes a flash of color or a swirl of water.
