Delta Today Fishing With Jim Solomon

Old friend Jim Solomon is up from So. Cal. to fish three days with me. Jim is a very accomplished all-round angler who has caught a number of good stripers from the southern CA surf plus lots of corbina.

He has fished the delta with me before so he is no newbie to the scene. We started off this morning close to home and on Jim's 5th cast he nailed a nice 11-pounder that pulled like a much larger fish. Nice start for sure.

We fished hard until about 5 p.m. and covered a ton of water running 8 gallons through the new F115. It was a tough day and we had to work hard for about 15 fish. Jim caught another nice one, an 8-pounder and a few other sub-legal fish.

I landed a few but only one legal of about 4-pounds and I dropped a good one.

Despite the slow fishing we had a great time and we're looking forward to a couple of more days of chasing delta stripers together.

Oh, same flies, same lines - water temp 64. Clarity better around Franks but not bad on the SJ.
