Bristol Bay Trip

I just returned from a trip to Intricate Bay Lodge in Bristol Bay, Alaska. There were 8 of us fishing the Copper and Gibraltar Rivers. The fishing was fantastic, the food excellent, the weather good for October, and the guides and staff incredible. Sorry I have no pics of all the fish and bears to share. The last morning of fishing, we awakened to smoke and we quickly grabbed some clothes and ran out of the lodge. The lodge burnt to the ground in 1.5 hours. What an incredible loss. Fortunately, no one was hurt but we lost all of our fishing gear, clothes, luggage, and most have no id, credit cards, or money. WOW! We are now making lists of what we lost and all the lists are long. As we start to put costs to what we lost and get insurance settlements, the amount that each of us lost quickly adds up. We have an expensive sport. However, our losses do not compare to what the lodge owner lost. I am now trying to order stuff so I can fish the remaining month of fall in Alaska.
