You got me to thinking about right vs. left. I just put on my Orvis Guide sling pack. The sling goes over my right shoulder the pack rotates from left to right or "clockwise to bring it to the front and there is nothing that would inhibit a lefty. All the pockets have double zippers and can be opened with either hand without any difficulty. The forceps pocket is set up for a righty but I could easily remove the forceps with my left hand and put it back again. The quick-release security strap that holds the pack in place while walking is easier for a righty but I don't think any lefty will have a problem working the strap with his or her right hand or both.
The pack is about as close to being ambidextrous as it could be.
It does have a water bottle pocket on the right end but that too is easily reached with the left hand.
Left or right is a non issue.
