|I previously owned the Orvis Safe Passage sling pack and really liked it as far as it went. I decided I needed a little more capacity and the lack of a water bottle holder I felt was a problem as summer carp fishing is often a hot weather pursuit. The Guide pack had not been on introduced yet and I wanted to stay with a sling pack because I love the ability to rotate it to the front and access the gear pouches.|
I already owned a Maxpedition Sitka sling pack I use for daily work carry. Maxpedition introducednthe smaller Noatak gear slinger and I thought this would be the perfect size for my on foot fishing.
What I like about it:
External water bottle holder and an internal pouch for a hydration bladder.
Capacity for several fly boxes and a packable rain jacket.
Internal compartments I like for keeping fly boxes separated from leaders, energy bars, a roll of campers TP, etc.
Lots of external attachment points for leader spools, tools, first aid pouch, and expansion pouches.
It has served me quite well for the past year with little sign of wear and a lot of rough and tumble handling.
Couple a well designed and stocked sling pack with a rod set up in one of Dan's Rigged -n- Ready bags and you can roll out of your car and be fishing within minutes of arriving at the water's edge.
