Since it's a level line it would be considered a constant or uniform sink. A floating or intermediate shooting line would slow down the shooting line end a bit - but not enough to fret about. The leader can hold up that end too and is why I always use a straight (knotless) length of leader when using sinking lines - like 8 feet of 20-pound Berkley Big Game for my striper leaders. The non-tapered leader without a fat butt section cuts the water column better. The only exception is when I use an intermediate density sinker. Then I use a twisted leader.
