I drove the break pedal on my Cherokee to the floor sometimes to try to get the rig to stop with my skiff in tow. I'm sorry, there just wasn't enough vehicle weight or mass, plus break power to stop the rig in a panic stop.

One other thing - when launching on a slick ramp, like the one at the Santa Cruz Small Craft harbor, the Cherokee, again, didn't have enough weight and more than once I came close to the skiff/trailer dragging my rig into the water. I was scared to death to back down that ramp as slick as it was. I never that that problem with my Tahoe.

Bigger, heavier is better when towing a boat with any weight. And, FWD is a huge help on slick boat ramps.

The Cherokee was a great little SUV but I hated towing my skiff with it. I also didn't like getting blown all over the highway on a windy day.
