Well, if I was towing a boat that was 2,000 pounds, I wouldn't be buying a vehicle with a 2.5 liter engine, even if it was turbocharged.

And If I did, I would expect that my front brakes are going to catch hell, trying to stop all that mass.

I used to trailer a 13 ft Boston Whaler with a 1600 cc VW square back sedan (last good vehicle VW ever made.) Even towed the whole thing loaded to the gills all the way round the Baja in 1973.

Your 32-33 + MPG going down to 16-17 should tell you that something is not a good fit.

I don't tow anything with my Subarus. On mine, I get 50 MPG on flat freeways, at around the speed limit. Well that is when I can drive at the speed limit. Since I've owned the car, total average MPG for every mile on it (moving MPG) is 29.4. But total average speed (moving speed) for all those miles, is only 20 MPH. I NEVER drive anywhere at 20 MPH; but I do drive on Bay Area Freeways, which never allow driving at the speed limit.

All of that is of no interest to anyone who wants to pull a boat or any other trailer.

Get a Chevy Tahoe, and it probably won't stutter.
