|I have a 2005 Highlander Hybrid. Now has about 68K on the odometer. My mileage is between 25-30 with the best being in the fall and spring. The car rides really well and when you want to pass someone and stand on it, the electric motors kick in instantaneously and with the assist from gas, you go from 70 to 100 quite rapidly (kills the mileage though!). I take the car camping and there is plenty of room. Would not take it into areas like my old 4Runner as the clearance is lower but then again, I am lower and older, too. When I first got the car, the big worry was the battery pack and the potential replacement cost of 5K. But the batteries are separate so if one ever goes out, you are not doing the whole pack. And, if I am not mistaken, the warranty is 10 years/120K miles on that part only. Hope I do not need to find out.|
I did tow my friend's bass boat and it weighed 2000. We went from the San Fernando Valley up to Tejon and it never hesitated on the hills. The disconcerting thing is it has no gears. I think it is called a constant velocity transmission but the engine just revs higher to maintain speed. My mileage dropped on that trip to around 20.
I did not get the Limited as it was 8K more and I did not need all those bells and whistles. Still happy today.
