It is a super idea for the canvass shop.

I had custom center console and leaning post cover made. The maker was very proud of his work and guaranteed it could be towed at highway speeds without coming off. He was right, but the only time I did it there was so much wear on it at rub spots I had to take it back and have him reinforce it. There was more wear in that one day then the remaining nine years. Still have them and they are still in good shape but I do no towing with canvas attached and no towing with loose stuff in the boat. Tow long distances every year. Harkers is the longest at 1200 miles round trip but I make a number of other long hauls too.
