|I'm pretty sure the banana superstition originated in Hawaii . My dad, who was an avid fisherman in Hawaii, said that bananas are associated with monkeys, and when you take bananas with you on fishing trips, the fish will make a monkey out of you. A few years ago at Henry's Lake, Idaho, some fishing buddies, California guys, never heard of this superstition or believed in it, took bananas out on the lake . Their engine quit on them in a far corner of the lake and had to be towed in. That evening the rest of the bunch was in the trash can.|
On another occasion at the Ruby Marsh in Nevada, somebody slipped a banana jn the back pocket of my vest. I carried it with me all day and had a poor day fishing. In Hawaii, you don't dare get on somebody's boat with bananas.
