Finally, I timed the weather right for a false albie trip off West Palm Beach. I got out for a half day with my friend Capt. Scott Hamilton of on Tuesday August 8th. I have known Scott for about 16 years, but haven't fished with him for about 4 years, so it was long overdue. To sum it up, seas were flat, storms were non-existent, and fishing was very good, but not wide-open...that was mainly due to flat seas and a lack of current. As always, Scott chummed the fish to boatside so I mainly fished a clear intermediate line on my 9 weight NRX and had a blast! I landed albies to 13 lbs, some huge blue runners, 2 tiny dolphin, and lost a decent king mack at the leader. I got off the boat happy and sore as hell...just what I was expecting!
