|Say hey Steve,|
I'm sure Dan will remember this adventure -- we were caught in a major thunderstorm while in the barrens of Manitoba. While we were fishing for pike out on a remote lake, we could hear the thunder and lightening show coming, we could see it moving. In a hectic few moments we had all the gear stowed and pushed to each side of the skiff. Our guide decided to outrun the storm (not a good decision and one that we were not in favor of trying). He gunned it. He ran the skiff and sure enough we were caught in the middle of the storm about 3/4 of the way across the lake.
We shut down the engine. Sat in the middle of the skiff on cushions. Had our feet on a plywood deck. We then pretty much bent forward covered our heads and said this it! You could feel the static around your body. Yup. It was a scary dangerous situation.
Once the storm passed we landed the skiff and got to a low lying point beyond the shoreline and sat down keeping a very low profile. We waited for some time and then heard that sweet sound of a prop plane coming to pick us up.
Sometimes Steve there isn't much you can do.
