There are resident fish in Holbox year round. Not as many big tarpon but there are some around. The problema is the weather. You usually need a flat sea to find and fish for the big tarpon. And during the Winter we get windy cold fronts that usually last from 3 to 5 days.If you get hit by one of those chances are you will not find the big tarpon.

But if you happen to be there just after a cold front usually the sea gets flat and with a good chance of fishing for them.

The good thing about december is that is dry season there are very few to none mosquitos and sandfleas. And it is not hot. The small baby tarpon can be fished year round and almost no matter the weather. Also december is a good time for snook.

Holbox is a really nice island to visit.
